Following Ihram, Niyya, Salah, Tawaf, and the third pillar of umrah comes Saee.

Let's take a closer look at saee and why Muslims perform saee.

The word 'Saee' means 'to walk' and its actual meaning is to walk between two mountains, Al-Safa and Al-Marwa. 

Saee is the ritual of walking nearly seven times between the two small hills of Safa and Marwa, situated adjacent to the Kaaba in Masjid al-Haram while performing Umrah. 

Why Muslims prefer Saee because to honour Prophet Ibrahim's wife Hajar's (AS) struggle, the Islamic ritual of Sa'ee is performed.

She crossed the hills of Safa and Marwa seven times in search of water in order to feed her thirsty son Prophet Ismail (AS)

Then we will learn how to perform saee in detail once you are familiar with what saee is and why Muslims perform it.

After praying two raqqah salah and drinking water from ZAMZAM head toward the place of saee going back and forth between mount al-Safa and al-Marwa.

Once you reach safa start point as shown in the figure recite this dua 

INNAS SAFAA WAL-MARWATA MIN SHA’AA’IR-ILLAH 

(Al-Safa and Al-Marva are the symbols of Allah)

Then face towards kabah and read this dua. Before reciting the dua say ALLAHU AKBAR  X3 TIMES. Then start reciting dua 

LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH, LAHUL-MULKU WA LAHUL-HAMDU WA HUVA ‘ALLA KULLI SHAY’IN QADEER, LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU  ANJAZA WAHDAHU, WA NASARA ‘ABDAHU, WA HAZAM-AL-AHZAABA WAHDAH

After saying this dua in Arabic you can make any dua for yourself, family, friends etc

Upon completion, Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam would repeat this dua.

LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU LAA SHAREEKA LAH, LAHUL-MULKU WA LAHUL-HAMDU WA HUVA ‘ALLA KULLI SHAY’IN QADEER, LAA ILAAHA ILL-ALLAAHU WAHDAHU  ANJAZA WAHDAHU, WA NASARA ‘ABDAHU, WA HAZAM-AL-AHZAABA WAHDAH

As soon as you have completed the process, you can make dua for your family and for yourself.

Once completed, read the same dua for the third time, then after completing it you would walk towards Mount Safa and Marwa and recite Zikr as you walk

Upon reaching the hill safa face in the direction of kabah raise your hand and make dua for your supplication.

Then on your way towards Marwa, you will run between two green lines placed between mount al-safa and Al-Marwa it is sunnah for men to run and women can walk normally. 

Upon reaching Marwa face in the direction of kabah, raise your hand and make dua for your supplication as you did before in safa.

when you reach near Al-Marwa u have completed your 1st round.

Repeat the same procedure seven times this is how you will complete your saee.

After completion of Saee, it is recommended that make your final dua then return to Masjid al-Haram and offer two Rakats of Nafil Shukrana.

By following these guidelines you will complete your Saee.
