Masjid e Ayesha, also called Masjid e Taneem is a renowned destination for worshippers and pilgrims performing Hajj and Umrah. It is located around 20 kilometers from Makkah. It is named after Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) wife, Aisha. She entered Ihram in the Taneem Mosque to perform her Umrah while menstruating. It is one of the closest Miqat points for those residing within Makkah.
The Masjid e Ayesha is well-equipped with bathing facilities and has washrooms for everyone. Since it is a renowned destination for entering Ihram, it is always crowded. The mosque is surrounded by vendors who sell essentials for Ihram clothing and other items like slippers and money belts. The journey of Umrah can be started from the Masjid e Ayesha.
Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), upon learning that his wife Aisha was menstruating, allowed her to attain Ihram in order to complete her Umrah journey. At that time, her brother, Abdur-Rehman, assisted her to the Taneem Mosque but did not accompany her on the Umrah journey because it was special permission given by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) just to his wife, Aisha, and other women in the same state.
She completed all the steps of Hajj but was instructed by the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) not to do Tawaf. She completed Tawaf when her menstrual cycle had ended. After this, the Holy Prophet (PBUH) told her brother to take her to Taneem. From this point, she continued on to her Umrah journey during Dhul Hijjah.
