Why you need to perform Umrah in Ramadan

Ramadan is the most sacred month in the Islamic calendar. In this month, the Holy Quran revealed its few revelations. During this Holy month, Muslims will fast from dawn to sunset, while also controlling themself from doing sins, and sincerely following the principles of Islam.

It is truly amazing to see people from many countries joining together near the Kaaba in fasting and performing Umrah for the sake of Allah.

In comparison to Hajj, Umrah is considered less significant. Ibn Abbas, the messenger of Allah, said performing Umrah during the holy month of Ramadan is equivalent to performing Hajj.

According to Al-Bukhaari and Muslim, Ibn ‘Abbaas The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings upon him) asked a woman, “What prevented you from performing Hajj with us?” She replied: My husband and my son went for hajj on one camel, and he left us the other camel that we could use to carry water. The messenger of Allah said: “When Ramadaan comes go for Umrah, in that time it is equal to hajj’.

In another hadith, narrated by ‘Abbas (Radhiallahu anhu):

Following the Prophet (Mohammed Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam)'s return from hajj, he asked Umm Sinan Al-Ansari “was there anything that prevented you from performing hajj?” She replied, “Father of so-and-so (i.e her husband) had two camels, and he performed hajj on one of them, while the other is used for irrigation of our land”

The Prophet (Mohammed Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Sallam) instructed her to perform umrah during Ramadan since it was equivalent to hajj or hajj with me (in reward)

[ Sahih Bukhari - Book 29, Hadith 86]

A constant feeling of thirst and hunger keeps Muslims aware of their needs, encouraging good behaviour and removing evil thoughts from their minds.

Fasting the whole day reciting the zikr and holy Quran and asking for forgiveness promotes mental peace.

It is still a special experience to perform Umrah during Ramadan, and nothing can compare to the spiritual experience of being in Makkah and Madina during this month.

Not everyone is blessed with the opportunity to perform Umrah during Ramadan. Get inspired by the benefits and rewards of Umrah and visit Makkah as soon as possible. During Ramadan, we hope that you get a chance to perform Umrah
